Gashaka-Gumti National Park is Nigeria’s largest park. Within the park, there is room for pastoralists, allowing for farming and grazing. A challenging aspect of the park’s management is balancing conservation & biodiversity efforts with needs of local populations. The ANI Foundation is a Nigerian non-profit organisation focused on balancing biodiversity and agriculture. To provide the necessary data, ANI asked us to provide cattle counting technology from space in order to follow cattle within the extents of the park. Using our Tensorflow-based technology, we’ve analyzed 30cm resolution satellite images to provide cattle maps for now and the future.
