AfriScout earns a European Space Agency Honourable Mention

Hoefsloot Spatial Solutions is proud to share that AfriScout — developed together with Global Communities — has received an Honourable Mention in the European Space Agency’s GDA “Impact Stories from Space” Challenge, announced on 3 March 2026.

Run under the European Space Agency’s Global Development Assistance (GDA) programme, the challenge highlights real-world cases where Earth observation is put to work in development and resilience — satellite data that makes its way into everyday decisions, services and operations.

AfriScout does exactly that. It turns satellite observations into practical grazing and water-availability alerts, delivered by mobile to pastoralist communities across the East African rangelands of Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania — helping herders plan their migration, find greener pastures and reduce livestock losses.
